The ‘American Idol’ TV producer-host is in escrow on Ellen DeGeneres’ Beverly Hills compound (pictured above), which touts 15,000 square feet of living space, three guest houses, a swimming pool and koi ponds. He is buying the property despite having not yet found a buyer for his Hollywood Hills Mediterranean, once owned by Kevin Costner and touting five bedrooms, four bathrooms, a pool, a guest house and tennis courts. That home is back on the market for $12 million after initially asking $14.95 million in 2010.

Despite the fact that DeGeneres and her wife Portia De Rossi had yet to sell their $49 million Beverly Hills home (now in contract to Ryan Seacrest), the couple bought a 4,100-square foot waterfront home in January that Brad Pitt remodeled following his split from Jen Aniston and then listed for sale. The gated estate has four bedrooms, a lap pool, a tennis court and access to a private beach cove. Now the couple is reportedly in contract on a Beverly Hills Hal-Levitt-designed abode down the street from their soon-to-be-sold compound. That 8,500-square foot property has walls of glass, four bedrooms, six bathrooms and a family room that opens onto a pool area.

Ashton Kutcher

Kutcher recently purchased this 9,400-square foot Hollywood Hills home after fellow Celebrity 100 list maker Justin Bieber reportedly tried to buy it. The house, with its floor-to-ceiling windows and cantilevered rooms and balconies overlooking Lake Hollywood, was rented by Kutcher prior to his purchase.

The Biebs has been on the prowl for a Los Angeles-area home for the past several months, reportedly settling on this six bed, seven bath hacienda-style home tucked away in a celebrity-centric development. Rumors have swirled that he chose this after a rumored attempt to buy the home Ashton Kutcher had been renting was thwarted by Kutcher’s decision to buy it.

Jennifer Aniston

The A-list actress has kept herself busy with real estate the past several years. After selling her custom Beverly Hills “Ohana” estate for nearly $38 million last year, she picked up two neighboring condos in a West Village pre-war building in Manhattan, paying roughly $7 million. She recently offloaded them for a loss of half a million dollars, choosing to move back to the west coast.  The newest conquest is this 8,500-square foot  mid-century Modern house that sits behind high gates on three acres that include vineyards.

The pop star is hanging onto the 8,835-square foot Hollywood Hills home she purchased last summer with ex-husband Russell Brand, reportedly dropping $1 million on remodeling post-break-up. The estate touts a three-story main house, a guest house and an outdoor patio area with swimming pool and rock features.

In 2009 the pop star bought a $6.9 million 8,520-square foot contemporary and then flooding caused “extensive damage,” according to its subsequent listing for $4.5 million, as is. The singer defaulted on the home, selling it as a short sale earlier this year to a buyer who ultimately paid more than the asking price.

The songstress recently scooped up this 2,800-square foot East Coast traditional with its gated entry, a guest house and a tennis court. Located in the LA-area, it’s the singer’s second home, having bought a $2 million Nashville, Tenn. penthouse in 2009. She has also purchased homes for her parents in the country music capital.

Britney Spears

Since the pop princess ascended to stardom in 1999, she’s had 10 homes, including six she has personally owned.Last month she found a buyer for the Beverly Hills abode she was infamously carted out of on a stretcher in 2008, for $1.25 million more than the asking price. After renting a paparazzi-immune manse in Calabasas, Calif. from 2009 to 2011, Spears settled on another rental in December that boasts 10,000-square feet of living space, an infinity pool, a gym, a home theater and a pub with billiards table.

The actor owns properties on both coasts. His Tinseltown compound lies in the Hollywood Hills, comprised of two adjoining land parcels (one purchased from Madonna ) and touting a massive basketball court the movie star built. He also owns two Malibu beachfront homes, including a seven-bedroom Malibu Colony home asking $75,000 per month in rent. In New York City, DiCaprio inhabits a apartment in eco-chic Riverhouse, a Battery Park City condo that pumps out twice-filtered air and filtered water to residents, who include Tyra Banks.

Oprah Winfrey

The billionaire media mogul owns properties around the country, including her famed California estate Promised Land (pictured above). The 23,000-square foot Georgian-style manse sits on over 40 acres and touts a tea house, more than 600 rose bushes and an upscale outhouse. One of her Chicago apartments made headlines in autumn as well, listing as a $15,000-per-month rental. Winfrey never resided in the 4,600-square foot co-op, opting for a duplex a few miles away instead.
